Brennabu camp school and Fagfornyelsen (Course renewal)

The overall part of Fagfornyelsen has six subsections of values. Brennabu camp school bases its practice on all these values.

  1. Human dignity
  2. Identity and cultural diversity
  3. Critical thinking and ethical awareness
  4. Joy of creation, commitment and desire to explore
  5. Respect for nature and environmental awareness
  6. Democracy and participation

We believe that a stay at Brennabu camp school will particularly help the schools to anchor the value "respect for nature and environmental awareness".

Our goals

  • We will try to help the students to expand their limits of what they think they can manage to dare.
  • The teaching at the camp school will be practical, the students will learn by doing.
  • The students must experience joy.
  • The student must experience physical, mental and social mastery.
  • When we make young people happy in nature, they will want to take care of the nature and return to it.
  • The pupils will get to know nature and food on site. They are taught local history and traditions by the teachers through storytelling methods.
  • Through wonder, we will create a desire to learn.
Experiential learning

At Brennabu, we work with experience-based learning, based from the students' own experiences and observations.

Goals of the teaching

Brennabu camp school will facilitate the pupils to be able to learn about nature and learn about themselves. The camp school wants to provide a good framework for the development of social skills and thereby help to strengthen the goal of the "cooperative person".
