and be nice to those around you

We are looking forward to you coming to camp school!

You probably have many expectations about the experience, and we hope the experience will be one you can remember for a long time. We also have some expectations to you. You will find these on this page, and we expect that these are gone through in the classroom in advance so that everybody will arrive well-prepared.

We expect:

  • That you will do your best for everyone to have a nice stay. We do not tolerate bullying and profanity.
  • That you behave nicely and treat house and inventory carefully. In cases where something is broken due to carelessness, you might have to replace it financially.
  • That you keep track of your belongings and make sure to hang up your outdoor clothes in the drying room. Remember to use indoor shoes inside and outdoor shoes outside only.
  • That you listen to messages given from the staff and your class teacher.
  • That you tell an adult if something is wrong.
  • That you respect the nature, respect all life, and do not destroy anything on purpose. It’s forbidden to throw wrapping paper and trash on the floor or out in the nature.

Order rules:

  • We need to know where you are, so you may not leave the camp school area without permission from the management from the camp school or your teacher.
  • Smoking and all use of open fire is forbidden (matches/lighters and candles).
  • Due to hygienic and cleaning reasons, chewing gum is not allowed at the camp school.
  • Bedrooms are only for those staying in them, and it’s forbidden to enter the bedroom corridors of the other classes.
  • All clothes and outdoor shoes shall be dried in the drying room or in assigned locations. In the drying room you need to make sure that your clothes are hanging in such a way that they will dry, and that shoes are not placed too close to the ovens, but on the benches.
  • Windows shall be closed during the day when you are attending activities or hikes.
  • Inspections are done morning and evening. Everybody must be in their rooms then.
  • During the inspection in the morning, all paper baskets shall be empty, the floor shall be swept, and the room shall be tidy. During the evening inspection, all the pupils shall be done with their evening routines and be in bed.
  • Quiet time from 22.15 to 07.00.
  • The pupils may not bring their mobile phones. Electronic games, music players etc. as well.
  • Nuts and perfumes are not allowed. This can be dangerous for people with allergies.
  • We do not tolerate bad behaviours and violence towards others.

At times we do experience differences in cultures and pain thresholds towards behaviours from school to school. A camp school is also a learning arena for interpersonal differences. At the same time, we have as a goal that everyone shall experience safe and enjoyable learning weeks. We always strive towards being clear regarding what we expect from the pupils when it comes to behaviour and ask that accompanying adults remind the pupils about these rules.

We welcome you to camp school!

All the best from us at Brennabu

Away from home

Remember that you represent your school and your home on this trip. Behave in such a way that they will be proud of you. Also on the trip to and from the camp school.

Consequences for violating our rules of order

We ask that all adults throughout the week reacts spontaneously with a firm conversation, regardless of who’s pupil it is if one experiences unacceptable language.

Should situations arise where the pupils do not follow our rules and regulations, the following sanctions will be followed:

  1. The pupil will have a conversation with the principal or CEO at Brennabu
  2. The pupil will be taken out of the activity
  3. Together with adults consider a different type of activity at the camp school or home schooling.
